The Crested Butte News
February 28, 2003
Mountain punk, bluegrass funk is what Last To Know is all about. And this band is headed to the Idle Spur on Saturday, March 1. Last To Know consists of seven members, with a rhythm section deeply rooted in funk, while the strings stay true to the psychedelic jam bands of the 60's and today. Banjo and mandolin add an element of old-time goodness. Harmonizing vocals and deeply felt lyrics make the music come alive with passion. An eccentric blend of fun makes for an interesting evening usually ending with a dance floor of sweaty, happy people.
From Taos, New Mexico, Last To Know has opened for The Motet and Culture. They have played the Solar Music Festival with such bands as String Cheese, Richard Thompson, Michelle Shocked, Big Head Todd and The Monsters, etc.
The members are Scott Barady on percussion, Dan Irion on mandolin and vocals, James Rann on lead guitar, Eric Riegel on guitar and vocals, and last but not least, Erik Wrecker on drums. Check these guys out on Saturday, March 1 at the Idle Spur. It's not an accident these guys are here during the Telemark Festival, Scott Barady won the Tele Fest competition last year. He and the band will be entering again this year.
